Het gaat om een schending van de mensenrechten waarvan naar schatting 200 tot 230 miljoen vrouwen en meisjes wereldwijd slachtoffer zijn. “Ook in eigen land werden reeds duizenden meisjes slachtoffer van deze barbaarse praktijken,” weet Vlaams Belang-Kamerlid Ellen Samyn, die samen met Kamerlid Alexander Van Hoecke een parlementair voorstelde indiende om de strijd tegen genitale vrouwenverminking (VGV) op te voeren.
